Moçambique despediu-se, esta terça-feira, de Feliciano Gundana, que perdeu a vida aos 85 anos vítima de doença. O país vê partir uma das suas vozes mais históricas: membro fundador da Frelimo, combatente de larga distinção e Herói da República de Moçambique.
Gundana marcou profundamente a história nacional ao integrar o núcleo pioneiro da Luta de Libertação Nacional, dedicando a sua vida à independência e ao fortalecimento do Estado moçambicano. Formado em Electrotecnia na Suíça e com preparação militar na República Popular da China, tornou-se um dos quadros mais completos e influentes do seu tempo.
Quatro décadas de serviço ao Estado
Durante mais de 40 anos, Feliciano Gundana ocupou cargos de elevado impacto e participou activamente na formação de novos líderes. Entre os nomes que passaram pela sua orientação destaca-se o de José Pacheco, que viria a assumir funções de grande relevância no país.
Entre 1978 e 1987, Gundana desempenhou o cargo de Governador em três províncias — Inhambane, Nampula e Zambézia — tendo sido reconhecido como melhor governador do País. Pelo seu desempenho exemplar, recebeu das mãos do Presidente Samora Machel a Ordem Socialista Trabalhista, uma das mais altas distinções atribuídas na época.
Herói da República
O Estado moçambicano voltou a honrar o seu legado em 2015, quando, através do Decreto Presidencial nº 19/2015, lhe foi atribuído o título de Herói da República de Moçambique — honra que partilhou com outra figura histórica, Marcelino dos Santos.
Em 2016, o município da Beira eternizou o seu nome ao baptizar uma das avenidas da zona do Chiveve em sua homenagem.
Um legado que permanece
A morte de Feliciano Gundana deixa um vazio profundo no país. A sua dedicação, disciplina e patriotismo moldaram gerações e ajudaram a construir os alicerces da nação moçambicana.
Moçambique perde um herói.
A história, essa, guardará para sempre o seu nome.
