O Governo moçambicano anunciou uma nova meta para o sector pecuário: garantir que todos os distritos do país disponham de pelo menos um médico veterinário até 2029, numa tentativa de melhorar a assistência aos criadores e reforçar o controlo sanitário dos animais.
O compromisso foi apresentado pelo ministro da Agricultura, Ambiente e Pescas, Roberto Mito Albino, durante uma visita de trabalho à cidade da Beira, no âmbito dos preparativos do Programa de Desenvolvimento das Cadeias de Valor do Agronegócio de Moçambique (MozAgriBiz).
A medida surge numa altura em que várias regiões do país continuam a enfrentar limitações no acesso a serviços veterinários, situação que afecta o combate a doenças, a vacinação do efectivo pecuário e a produtividade dos pequenos e grandes produtores.
Segundo o ministro, o Executivo está a trabalhar em coordenação com a Ordem dos Médicos Veterinários de Moçambique para expandir a presença destes profissionais nas zonas rurais e garantir que os criadores tenham assistência técnica mais próxima.Além da colocação de veterinários, o plano governamental prevê a expansão da rede de farmácias veterinárias em diferentes pontos do país.
O objectivo é facilitar o acesso a medicamentos, vacinas e outros serviços essenciais para a protecção da saúde animal.Especialistas do sector consideram que o reforço da assistência veterinária poderá contribuir para reduzir perdas causadas por surtos de doenças, melhorar a qualidade da produção pecuária e aumentar os rendimentos das famílias que dependem da criação de animais.
A iniciativa integra os esforços do Governo para fortalecer o agronegócio nacional e criar condições para o crescimento sustentável da produção pecuária nos próximos anos. (Vozafricano)
