Um novo caso levanta sérias preocupações sobre a segurança no Estabelecimento Penitenciário Especial de Máxima Segurança da Machava, conhecido como B.O. Cinco agentes foram suspensos e enfrentam processos disciplinares e criminais por alegadamente facilitarem a entrada ilegal de telemóveis no interior da prisão.
A revelação foi feita pelo porta-voz do Serviço Nacional Penitenciário, Mário Vicente, durante uma conferência de imprensa conjunta com o Serviço Nacional de Investigação Criminal. Segundo explicou, a operação resultou na apreensão de cerca de 30 telemóveis, dos quais 19 são smartphones, além de outros objectos proibidos.
As investigações apontam para o possível envolvimento directo de funcionários do sistema prisional. As autoridades garantem que não irão tolerar este tipo de práticas, consideradas graves por colocarem em risco o controlo e a segurança do estabelecimento.
Por sua vez, o porta-voz do SERNIC, Hilário Lole, confirmou a detenção em flagrante de um dos agentes, suspeito de facilitar a entrada de um telemóvel que estaria a ser utilizado em esquemas de burla.
As autoridades indicam ainda que há indícios do envolvimento de uma visitante, actualmente sob investigação, enquanto continuam as diligências para identificar todos os responsáveis por este esquema dentro de uma das prisões mais seguras do país.
O caso reacende o debate sobre falhas internas no sistema penitenciário e levanta dúvidas sobre até que ponto actividades criminosas podem estar a ser coordenadas a partir do interior das cadeias.
